Curriculum

We have intentionally chosen to continue the usage of the old Illinois State Standards, instead of the Common Core Standards, in grades K-8. The lack of proof that Common Core actually improves student performance and the growing controversy surrounding the standards prompted our teachers to stick with the traditional standards.

What does this mean for my child? Your child will enjoy a classroom rich in all methods of learning. Direct instruction, although foundational in our program, is reinforced with hands-on activities, projects, collaborative learning, and emerging technology that prepares your child for real-world application. Your child will receive a thoughtful balance between knowledge acquisition, individual practice, and hands-on learning.
